John Oscar Mautz age 55, died on Sunday, May 8, 2011 at his home. He was born on July 6, 1955 in Madison and was the son of Engelbert and Martha (Urban) Mautz. He married Nancy Jones on September 4, 1976 at St. Albert’s Catholic Church in Sun Prairie. John enjoyed spending time with his family and had a love of music, reading and animals.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; his children, Austin (Lisa) of Waukesha; Amber (Ryan) Weis of DeForest; 3 grandchildren, Grace, Jonathan, Isabella and a fourth on the way in July; 3 brothers, Bill (Sarah) of Portage, Dan (Cathy) of Sun Prairie, Joe (Bonnie) of Naperville, IL; 3 sisters, Sharon (Max) Chastain of Albuquerque, NM, Barbara (David) Flesch of Madison, Joyce (Walt) McDaniel of Ascutney, VT. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus Street in Sun Prairie where a scripture service will be held at 7:00 p.m. A private Funeral Mass will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family is establishing a memorial fund in John’s name.

I have lots of memories when we were little and used to come out to the "Mautz Family Farm" that is what we called it growing up. John was always doing something around the farm, tinkering or just taking care of the animals. I will never forget the time we went out and helped butcher chickens. We were very young and had so much fun learning about the farm. May the Lord be with the Mautz family and our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
