Joan L. Kroetz, age 76, passed away at her home on Friday, June 7, 2013. She was born on August 7, 1936 in Madison and was the daughter of Rupert and Beatrice (Chase) Batz. She married John Kroetz on June 23, 1956 at Sacred Hearts Catholic Church.
On June 7, 2013 our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully. She weaved a quilt of many beautiful memories for all who knew her. Joan was an avid dancer, cook, fisherwoman, bridge player, and movie watcher. Joan was an exceptional person who always put others first. She always was there for a laugh and a smile, and unconditional love for everyone.
She is survived by her husband, John; children Joellyn (Greg) Fumelle, Jennifer Cox (Sean Robinson), Jon Kroetz, JoBeth Kroetz, Jacqueline Kroetz, Judene Kroetz, Joseph Kroetz, Julianna (Eric) Thomsen, Joshua Kroetz; grandchildren Alison, Hannah, Austin, Dylan, Jocelyn, Nicole, Jackson, Beau, Dontay, and Jace; loved pets, Bucky and Molly; and a sister Bernadine Phillipsen and a lifelong friend Mary Hommel. Joan is preceded in death by her parents Rupert Batz and Beatrice Chase; a son James Kroetz, and siblings Gerard Batz, Esther Hughey, and Billy Batz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus Street in Sun Prairie. Monsignor James Uppena will preside. Burial will be at Sun Prairie Memory Gardens Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday, June 10, 2013 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home 302 Columbus St. in Sun Prairie and from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Tuesday.
