Jo Ann Kessler went to heaven to join her husband on February 4, 2024. She was born June 16, 1929, to John and Josephine (nee Schuerman) Dorshorst in Rudolph, Wisconsin, the fifth of 12 children. She moved to Deerfield in 1941 where she later met and married Floyd H. Kessler on October 16, 1948, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Cottage Grove. He preceded her in death in 1982. She worked for the Village of Cottage Grove from 1975-1989. Jo Ann was a devoted Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma and Great-Great Grandma to 18 Grandchildren, 33 Great Grandchildren and 4, plus another on the way, Great-Great Grandchildren. She is survived by her 8 children, Kathy Kessler, Lois (Art) Klein, Debbie (Dick) Bollig, Linda (Jerry) Dollak, Mary (Jim) Schulenburg, Barb Kessler, Judy Klubertanz and Floyd (Merry) Kessler. She is further survived by 3 sisters, Norma Bohl, Marilyn Herman and Judy Zenk and 2 sisters-in-law, Erma Kessler, Judy Dorshorst and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Jo Ann is preceded in death by: her husband, Floyd in 1982; grandsons, David Schulenburg and Anthony Klein, son-in-law Jim Klubertanz; brothers, Bud, Fritz, and Kenny Dorshorst; sisters, Vera Haberman, Delores Christian, Pat Pollard and two in infancy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 4913 Schofield Street, Monona, with Father Bill Van Wagner presiding. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church. Following Mass a catered lunch will be served.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Family Children’s Hospital, SSM Health Hospice or one of your choice.
