Jerald J. Young, age 75 departed this life on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Pineview Living in Sun Prairie after a long struggle with Alzheimer's Dementia. He was born on April 8, 1937 in Almond and was the son of Albert and Dorothy (King) Young. He married Marie Splinter on February 6, 1960. He graduated from U.W. Stevens Point. He taught school in Argyle for several years before becoming a high school math teacher in Sun Prairie where he worked for 30 plus years until his retirement.
He is survived by his 2 daughters, Ellie (Tony) Baldus of Kewaskum, Martha Young of Sun Prairie; grandchildren, Joseph, Nicholas and Nicole; a sister, Nancy Cayce of Almond; sisters-in-law, Shirley Splinter of LaCrosse and Marjorie Anderson of Argyle. He is further survived by his lifelong friends Gary and Julie Hanson of Sun Prairie
He was preceded in death by his wife; his son Michael; parents; a brother Glen; 3 brothers-in-law Thomas Cayce, Leo Splinter and Henry Anderson
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 23, 2012 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus Street in Sun Prairie. Father John Silva will preside. Burial will be in Sacred Hearts Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4to 7p.m. on Sunday, July 22, 2012 at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St. in Sun Prairie and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at church on Monday. The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Stuff the Bus or Alzheimer's Foundation.
