Jeffrey Vander Velden, age 69 passed away on Monday, August 20, 2012 at Agrace Hospice Care Inc. surrounded by his family. He was born on July 4, 1943 in Appleton, WI and was the son of Lyle and Estelle (Maciejwski) Vander Velden. He married Laurel Vanderheiden on October 8, 1966 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Combined Locks. Jeff worked many years for Wisconsin Gas Company.
He is survived by a daughter Jolene (Jerry) King of Columbus; a son Greg of Sun Prairie; 2 grandchildren Ryan and Alexis King; 2 brothers, Ken (Karin) Vander Velden, Gene (Grace) Vander Velden; 4 sisters-in-law, Bonnie Vander Velden, Janet (Richard) Verbeten, Doris Dolan, Barb Vanderheiden; and a brother-in-law, Gene Stuyvenberg.

He was preceded in death by his wife Laurel; parents; a brother, Gerald Vander Velden; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Vander Velden; sister-in-law Carol Stuyvenberg and a brother-in-law Tom Dolan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 24, 2012 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus Street in Sun Prairie with Monsignor Duane Moellenberndt presiding. Burial will be in Sun Prairie Memory Gardens. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home 302 Columbus St. in Sun Prairie and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church on Friday. A special thanks to HospiceCare for their wonderful care and support. The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Hospice Care Inc. or Sacred Hearts School Endowment Fund.

Greg, Jolene&family Can't tell you how sad it was to get a note from Diane H telling us about your dad, we were shocked to hear of his death. Bob and I have such great memories of both your parents and the fun times we shared while living on Robert Drive. We still have pictures from some of the New Year's Eve parties our families shared along with back yard BBQ's, Jart games, and of course the Brewers games we attended...we'll forever cherish the good times. We send our love and deepest sympathy, praying you find comfort in the beautiful memories in the days ahead. Bless You All

I always loved my uncle Jeff!!! Growing up in Kimberly, he had a local business so I was blessed to see him and aunt Laurie a lot. I never knew what trick he had up his sleeve next! One fourth of July party at my parents house he really got me. It was uncle Jeff's Birthday, and I believe I was less than 10 years old. Back then, we used "blocks" of ice and chizzled them down to cool drinks, ect. Well, a big hail storm came through at that party---uncle Jeff had a huge block of ice in his hands and said to me "look what I found in your backyard". Lol... I really thought it was hail!!! That was a good one! One of many. In spite of all the jokes and humor, he was so kind, gentle and caring. Jolene and Greg are awesome cousins, and I enjoyed seeing them grow up as I grew up. I don't remember what year they moved from Kimberly-but I remember missing them. I will miss you uncle Jeff- but I hane wonderful memories in my heart forever. My sincere sympathies go out for Jolene and Greg and their families. My thoughts and prayers are with all who knew uncle Jeff.
