James D. Susee, age 92, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Agrace HospiceCare Inc. in Fitchburg surrounded by his family. He was born on April 9, 1921 in Shell Lake and was the son of Edward and Ida (Jacobson) Susee. He served in the U.S. Marines in Guadalcanal during WWII. He was employed as a painter for over 50 years and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, V.F. W. and American Legion.
He married Catherine Nellen on June 9, 1945 at Sacred Hearts Catholic Church.
He is survived by; 4 children, Cathie (Mark) Evenson of McFarland, Pat (Ken) Montanye of Eau Claire, Jim (Judy) Susee of Windsor, Deb (Cameron) Hensel of McFarland; 11 grandchildren, Matthew (Heather), Jennie, Jamie (Jeremy), Jason, Joshua, Traci, Reid, Kelli, Amy, Elena, Tyler; 3 great grandchildren Elise, Ethan and Mollie; a sister, Doris Chellevold. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Catherine; 3 brothers, Bud, Chet and John; 4 sisters, Stella Riley, Harriet McKeever, Georgia Scheffel and Jeanette Strand.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 7, 2013 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus Street in Sun Prairie. Monsignor Duane Moellenberndt will preside. Burial will be in the Sacred Hearts Cemetery where gravesite military rites will be held. A visitation will be held on Monday, October 7 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St. in Sun Prairie. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Sacred Hearts Catholic Church or Agrace HospiceCare Inc. The family would like to give a special thanks to Heritage Senior Living for the loving care they gave Mom and Dad over the last year. Also, thanks to Hospice for the care given Dad in his final days.
