His chores on earth done, Henry “Junior”, age 90, left us early on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 under the watchful eyes of his family. Born on November 20, 1922, to Henry and Rose (Dushack) Stier, Henry worked the family farm started by his father.
On April 3, 1945, he married his first love, Margaret Wagner. Together they worked and built up the farm while raising a family of seven. After 45 years of partnership, Margaret left us too early on July 21, 1990. A dear friend joined our family on April 20, 1999 when he married Mardelle Ripp nee Stoppleworth. They enjoyed a too short season of laughter until her death on June 14, 2008.
Henry enjoyed trumping others in euchre, NASCAR on TV, trips out west and attending livestock auctions. Henry recently received his 75 year pin from the Catholic Order of Foresters.
He is survived by his children, Michael of Middleton, John (Susan) Stier of Sun Prairie, Jean (Chris) Coates of Monona, Carol (Mathew) Jaworski of Poynette, James of Chicago, Marilyn, Karen both of Sun Prairie; a sister, Ruth Hanley of Sun Prairie; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, March 8, 2013 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus Street in Sun Prairie. Monsignor Duane Moellenberndt will preside. Burial will be in the Sacred Hearts Cemetery. A visitation will be held before Mass from 9:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St. in Sun Prairie.
The family thanks the wonderful staff at the Sun Prairie Health Care Center for their compassion. Their kind words and care were a comfort to our Dad and the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Sacred Hearts School Endowment Fund or the Sun Prairie Food Pantry in his memory.
