Henry M. “Hank” Matykowski, age 89, Sun Prairie, died Wednesday, Dec 19, 2012 at the Willows Nursing Home. He was born on November 11, 1923 in Crivitz and was the son of Paul and Veronica (Wirkus) Matykowski. He married Marie Mueller on May 1, 1946. Hank spent most of his life in the oil distribution industry as the owner/operator of Matty Oil Company and later as an account executive with several national petroleum products companies. Hank and Marie moved from Crivitz to Plover in 1965 were they resided until his retirement, when they moved to Columbus. There, he spent many hours in the senior center wood shop, making bird houses, ornaments, home decorations and toys for his sons, daughters-in-law and grandkids. He also enjoyed singing with the residents of the assisted living community where they lived. He was extremely proud of his photos of a 1957 Packer game, which now are displayed on the Packer Hall of Fame website. Hank was a devout Catholic, a proud veteran of the Merchant Seaman, as well as member and officer of the Crivitz Fire Department, Crivitz Lions Club, Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus, and the St. Mary's Church choir. He was also a member of the Crivitz Barber Shoppers, where his quartet performed throughout the state. Hank loved his country very deeply, nearly as much as his wife and family. He loved to play the organ, tell life stories and sing at family reunions.
