Helen Henrietta Tuschen, 89, passed away peacefully at Select Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin, surrounded by her family on March 18, 2015.
She was born on June 25, 1925 to Frank Cline and Clara Pulvermacher in Dane, Wisconsin. She was the sixth born of eight children. She worked on the family farm until she completed her freshman year at Lodi High School where she exceled in track. She then moved to Madison where she worked at Oscar Mayer and Co. for 15 years.
Helen has always had an adventurous spirit. As a young woman Helen loved to travel, dance, and spend time with friends. At a dance at Angel Park, Helen met the love of her life, Joseph Tuschen of North Bristol. They were married on August 27, 1949 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Madison and began their life together in Sun Prairie.
After her second child was born Helen Left Oscar Meyer to become a full- time homemaker and mother. She also worked with her husband in his livestock and trucking business. In 1966, she became office manager for the first milk reload in the state of Wisconsin for Prairie Milk Transfer where she worked until 1982. She assisted in the family wholesale and retail produce business. Helen worked seasonally at Wisconsin Cheeseman and Oconomowoc Canning Company. She also volunteered her time to the Red Barn in Sun Prairie and also worked in the kitchen at church for many years.
Her proudest accomplishment in life was raising her children. Helen was a great cook and not only fed her family but would also feed their friends and hired hands. No one would ever leave hungry. Helen's quick wit and sense of humor always put a smile on your face and sometimes put you in your place. Our stomach and hearts will go hungry without her.
She is survived by 4 children; Steve (Alice) Tuschen of Sun Prairie, Rose-Mary Tuschen of Tuscan, Arizona, Karen (Randy) Justesen of McFarland and Larry Tuschen of Sun Prairie; 9 grandchildren, James, Mark (Michelle), Koreen (Jeff), Lance (Susan), Tamara (Jesse), Halee (Brandon), Sadie, Tessy, Libbi and 10 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Joseph A Tuschen and her siblings; Norbert Cline, Laurine Hahn, Marie Holak, Linda Trienen, Eveline Schroeder, Bill Cline, and Delores Tenjum. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 2420 St. Albert Dr. in Sun Prairie with Msgr. Terrence L. Connors presiding.
