Helen Jean Kravitz, age 77, passed away on September 22, 2012. Helen was born April 2, 1935, in Trenton, New Jersey, to Pasquale and Mary Marano. She was one of six siblings in a very loving Italian family. Helen met Peter Kravitz in August of 1957 on a blind date and after a whirlwind romance she married the great love of her life in October 1957. Their life's adventure began with a move to Scotland in 1958, courtesy of the United States Air Force, where they had two of their three daughters – Patricia (Lloyd Holden) and MaryAnn (Wayne Frutiger). Upon returning stateside the family relocated to Washington DC, and after the birth of their third daughter, Marjorie, they made their way to Sun Prairie in 1971. Helen was a faithful and devout member of Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary Catholic church, active in the VFW Aux. and American Legion Aux. Helen was a kind and gentle soul, who lightened the heart of everyone she met – always with a smile and a hug. Helen was a humble woman, notoriously placing other's needs before her own. Those that knew her well, knew the fiery spirit that she embodied. Helen had a fantastic sense of humor and her near perfect timing could stop any conversation and incite much laughter. Her love of word games was only matched by her love of baseball and college basketball. Always ready to predict bracket winners with her grandson Joshua. Helen took great pride in her grandchildren, taking deep interest in their lives. Joshua, Nicole, Ryan, and Wayne brought her more joy than they will ever know.To tell you how Helen lived is best illustrated by the love that surrounded her. Her family and friends need only remember her classic smirk, her beautiful eyes and the warmth of her embrace. Helen was a devout woman who did not fear her mortality. She left us far too soon and this earth is a bit less brilliant without her. My plan of tribute to my mother is simply this: in every instance of my life I will strive to do what I know I should. It is best to keep it simple, for she was simply the best. Our family extends heartfelt appreciation for the countless acts of kindness, generosity, and selfless love so many people have bestowed upon us during this troubled time. Your actions will live in our hearts forever.
