Harvey G. Birkholz, age 82, passed away on Friday, February 26, 2016 at his home. He was born the 13th of 14 children on January 4, 1934 in Wonewoc and was the son of Louis and Lela (Seflow) Birkholz. He was raised in Wisconsin Dells and played on the undefeated football team in High School. Harvey served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1954 to 1956 stationed in Alaska 60 miles from Russia. He later worked at Oscar Mayer for 44 ½ years. He married Sally Schulze on April 10, 1958. He married Julia Fay on October 20, 1990. They preceded him in death. Harvey loved playing cards with his siblings. He was an avid Badger, Packer and Brewer fan.
He is survived by his 2 step granddaughters Shannon von Driska and Joanie Kierzek; 3 sisters, Gertrude Lobenstein, Margaret Soma and Bernice Faltersack all of Sun Prairie; a brother Ken (Jessie) Birkholz of Sun Prairie and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1st wife Sally in 1985 and second wife Julia in 2013; 3 sisters, Freida, Hilda and Anna; 6 brothers, Henry, Martin, Edward, Alvin, Carl and Donald.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 550 Lincoln Drive in Sun Prairie.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be held at Sun Prairie Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
