Harold T. Wendler, age 82, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2016, in Madison. He was born to Otto and Alice (Harrison) Wendler on June 1, 1934, in Milwaukee. He married his first wife Margaret Bauer on October 18, 1958, Harold married his second wife Jan (Hughey) on July 22, 2006.
Harold was a graduate of Marquette High School and attended Marquette University. He also served our country in the U.S. Army. He worked over 30 years for Sherwin Williams. Harold was an avid Packer fan, was a member of the Lions Club in Manitowoc and was a Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of Sacred Hearts Church for 36 years, where he taught religious education, was a Sacristan for more than 13 years, and he also volunteered at Hospice for 10 years.
He is survived by his wife Jan; a sister Marian; children, Michael (Lynette), Rev. Patrick, Laure (Kurt) Schmidt, Mary (Kevin) Krysinski, and Thomas (Lisa); stepchildren, David Hughey, Dennis (Minette) Hughey, Donna (Bill) Hammerton, Dawn (Rick) Dorman, Douglas Hughey Sr., and Jane Lawson; grandchildren, Elijah, Mathew, Zachary, Erin, Kristen, Jeremy, Hayley, Noah and Isaac; 16 step grandchildren; and 8 step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Margaret; his parents and a brother Frank.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 221 Columbus Street, Sun Prairie. Rev. Patrick Wendler will preside with Monsignor Duane Moellenberndt as Homilist. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 2, 2017, at Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St. in Sun Prairie, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass on Tuesday at the Church. Burial will be at Sacred Hearts Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Sacred Hearts Building Fund or Sacred Hearts Cemetery Fund.
