Harlan C. Grove, age 92, died on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at his home. He was born on November 1, 1923 in the Town of Bristol and was the son of Christian and Helena (Quamme) Grove. Harlan married Gladys Schulz on September 21, 1946 in Milwaukee. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Asian Pacific Theatre during WWII. He was a life-time farmer and life-long member of Spring Prairie Lutheran Church. He served on the Church Council, the Church Cemetery Assoc., Dane County ASCS Committee, and Bristol Town Board. He was an American Legion Member for 65 years and past Commander, and a member of several Norwegian Heritage organizations.
He is survived by a daughter, Kathleen (James) Secora of Hoffman Estates, IL; 2 sons Jeffery (Robin) of Bremerton, WA, Scott (Laurie) of Columbus; 10 grandchildren, Cheryl (Jonathan) Pearl, Steve (Beth) Secora, Jackie (Leonard) Wilson, Chris (Kathy) Grove, Gary Grove, Jamie Grove, Rachel Schenk, Nicolaus (Natalie) Schenk, Ben (Meghann) Grove, Anna (Blake Fenske) Grove; 13 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and a son Ronald; and brother Clairmont.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 3, 2016 at Spring Prairie Lutheran Church in Keyeser with Pastor Sylvia Lee-Thompson presiding. Visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday June 2, 2016 at Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St. Sun Prairie. Burial will be held in the church cemetery. Memorials can be made to Spring Prairie Lutheran Church.
