Gretchen Ann Klundt, age 69, died on Monday, January 5, 2015 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg after a brief battle with leukemia along with other complications. She was born on July 10, 1945 in Minneapolis, MN and was the daughter of Herbert and Margaret (Sullivan) Van Deuren. She married Clifford Klundt on August 28, 1965 at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Wisconsin Dells.
Gretchen was a great cook, took pride in keeping her house clean, enjoyed growing her summer flowers, watching birds at the feeders and most of all, she loved little kids. She was also very proud of her grandchildren and their accomplishments.
She never wanted to be the center of attention or in charge of anything, but was always more than willing to help anyone whenever and wherever needed. Her only regrets were not being able to travel more with her husband and celebraing their 50th wedding anniversary this coming August.
She will be dearly missed by her husband Clifford; 2 children, Shane (Denise) of Hudson, and Suzanne (James) Doolittle of Sun Prairie; 3 grandchildren, Benjamin and Daniel Klundt, and Anna Doolittle; 1 step-grandchild Erik Doolittle; 3 brothers Gregory, Michael (Maureen), and Peter; 1 sister Paula (Michael) Klubertanz; sister-in-law Lynn Van Deuren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother H. Martin Van Deuren.
No one was a better wife, mother, grandmother or friend.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus Street, Sun Prairie, with Monsignor Duane Moellenberndt presiding. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church on Saturday. Burial will be at Sacred Hearts Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Sacred Hearts Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund or the Sacred Hearts Cemetery Operating (Road) Fund.
