Geraldine M. Yelk, age 87, passed peacefully on Monday, May 13, 2013 at Attic Angel Place in Middleton. She was born on May 23, 1925 in the Town of Hampden and was the daughter of Oscar and Loretta (Doleshaw) Ebert. She married Gerald Yelk on September 1, 1942 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in East Bristol. They made Sun Prairie their home.
Geraldine was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. She worked at the phone company for a short time and later kept the books for the family business. She was an avid gardener and animal lover, especially horses. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her children, Gary (Judy) of Marshall, Mary (John) Fieldhouse of Brooksville, FL, Ann (Fred) Urben of Cross Plains, James (Elizabeth) Yelk of Sun Prairie, Rita (Jim) Schunk of Mt. Horeb, Eileen (Dan) Wilson of McFarland, Bonnie (James) Ernst of Marshall, William (Laura) Yelk of San Antonio, TX, Teresa (Bill) Mitchell of Waunakee; 21 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Kenneth Ebert of Columbus and Claude (Ann) Ebert of Johnson Creek.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Gerald and beloved Aunt Amelia “Millie”.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus Street in Sun Prairie. Monsignor Duane Moellenberndt will preside. Burial will be in the Sacred Hearts Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St. in Sun Prairie.
