Frank W. Bontly, age 72, passed away on June 28, 2018 at Mercy Hospital, Janesville.
He was born in Janesville, WI on November 20, 1945, the son of William and Elizabeth (Crosbie) Bontly. Frank married Lisa Michalak on October 10, 1992, and the couple shared 25 years together.
Frank graduated from Janesville High School in 1964, and received a B.A from Milton College in 1968. He went on to earn a Masters of Science from UW-Whitewater in 1977. Frank dedicated his professional life to helping others. For 30 years, he worked as a social worker for Rock County Human Services until his retirement in 2003. Into retirement, he also enjoyed his part-time employment as a job coach with CESA II. His work touched the lives of many and he always believed in lifting others up.
Frank was a proud member of AA for over 30 years and made many long-lasting friendships attending meetings in the community. He was also a member of the Janesville Stamp Club, the American Philatelic Society, and the Green County Genealogical Society. Frank greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing, and especially sharing this pastime with his children and grandchildren through the years.
He is survived by his wife: Lisa; his 3 children: Aaron (Simone) Bontly, Columbia, SC, Tiffany (Shigeaki) Minami, Belvidere, IL, and Ethan (Seyran) Bontly, Skokie, IL; 4 grandchildren: Tate, Raleigh, Hanako, and Selin; a brother: John (Sandy) Bontly, Bonita Springs, FL; a sister: Mary (Larry) Giles, Williamsburg, VA; 2 nieces: Cassandra and Brianna; and a nephew: Joshua. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Brodhead on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 with Pastor David Frey officiating.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 2, 2018 at Newcomer-Silverthorn Chapel on the Hill, 3008 S. Coon Island Rd, Orfordville and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the service begins at the church.
