Evelyn (Tanner) Powell Dussault crossed over to her heavenly home on March 29, 2014 at age 96.
She was the eldest of 5 children born to Oscar and Florence (Coyne) Tanner on January 6, 1918 in a farm house in Milan, IL. Their family grew with the addition of Bernice Thomas (deceased) of Drexel, MO, Vernon Tanner (deceased) of Kansas City, MO, Joyce Kohut (deceased) of Redmond, WA and Virginia (Max) Lauritzen of Poway, CA.
Evelyn's daughter Joyce (Bill) Messer of Cottage Grove and son Douglas Powell (deceased) lived in Oak Park, IL for nearly 4 decades with their step-father Edward Dussault and mother. Those years were one of her fondest memories of family, neighborhood friends and being the surrogate grandparent to the neighbor children. She also had good times with her involvement with the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, Senior Citizens, and her Church, while working a full time job.
When her family started growing again with the addition of 9 grandchildren, Kathleen Lamboley, Karen (Don) Murnane, James (Consuelo) Morrison, Karolyn (Mat) Levin, Bradley, Russell, Martin, Daniel, and Kristi Powell. She thrived on sharing their lives and love. This love was extended even more to the 8 great-grandchildren. Joseph Ott, Henry Ott, Rita (Adam) Miller, Laura Lamboley, Bradley Powell, Edward Morrison, Ryan and Tanner Levin; and 1 great-great-granddaughter Lacey Miller.
When she moved to WI, she joined the Colonial Club, RSVP and enjoyed her swims at Kindred Hearts where she later resided until her passing.
Evelyn will be missed by all the friends and family she endeared through-out her life. She blessed us all.
Our thanks to the special people at St. Jude's and Kindred Hearts that gave her their loving care. No services are planned at this time.
