My sincere condolences to the family on Gene's passing. When I think of our industry Gene is right at the top of my list. A great mentor to many of us in the diesel business. He will be remembered for his great stories and his valuable insights and knowledge that he passed on to so many of us. Rest in peace Gene. Andy Girres

Uncle Gene will always be in my heart as my Godfather and a great human being. He became a good friend to Jim and me when we moved back to Madison to care for Mom and Dad. I turned to him for trusted advice, counsel and support during that time and will always appreciate his generosity and kind heart. Our thoughts are with you, Kari and Nancy. ❤️ Mary

Gene was a true professional and loved kids. I have fond memories of Gene as he was always a class act and gave his time to support kids in the community. Gene's pet peeve was kids should not be wearing hearts in school. His business was so clean you could eat off the floor. His legacy lives on with the naming of Schey's Common at Sun Prairie East High School.
