Elizabeth E. “Betty” Lubinsky, age 78, passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at her home in Sun Prairie. She was born August 29, 1937 in Madison, to Melvin and Claire (Coffey) Hauge. She married Richard Lubinsky on August 26, 1988.
Betty truly enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Whether it be hanging out with her boating friends at Picnic Point, hitting the links or Badger tailgating; she took pleasure in every minute. She had a passion for traveling and every year she looked forward to her numerous trips with Dick to locations such as; Turkey, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Mediterranean cruise, Caribbean cruise to name a few.
When not on the go Betty loved spending time with her horses, dogs, cats and just quiet time around the farm.
Later in life Betty was diagnosed with Familial Amyloidosis. She was recruited for a clinical drug study and was the first person in the United States to complete phase three of the study. Her participation will help her family and numerous others in the future battle against this rare disease. She is our hero. We thank her many angels in San Diego especially Dr O., Jana, Thao and her dear friend Elena for the wonderful care they gave her during the drug study.
Betty is survived by her husband Dick; children, Kelly (Angela) Genter, Kent (Jill) Genter, Christine (Kevin) Orfan, Sheri Hults, Rick (Connie) Lubinsky, Sue (Marty) Kosobucki, Fran (Marianne) Genter, Liz (Tommy) Boyd; grandchildren Lindsay, Taylor, Olivia, Ethan, Isabelle, Brooke, Kelsey, Mitch, Matt, Cole, Sarah, Jack, Erin, Kyle and Kaden; great-grandchildren Kaelyn and Kendal; sister Mary (Stan) Wagner; brothers Thomas (Mary Jon) and Michael (Tina); and many nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Robert; and a son Rick Lubinsky.
Betty's other family was at J.H. Findorff where she worked as an Accounting Manager for 35 years.
Betty was quiet and strong, a good listener and gave sound advice. She was quietly generous, country to the core, a voracious reader and always ready for a good time. Above all she was fiercely loyal and had an unending well of love that everyone around her could draw from. She will truly be missed.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 -11:30 am on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 2420 St. Albert Drive in Sun Prairie WI. Immediately following will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am with Msgr. Donald Heiar presiding. Interment will be at Sacred Hearts Cemetery on a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sun Prairie Food Pantry or Sun Shine Place.
