Dwayne L. Jones, age 86 passed away on Friday, July 4, 2014 at the Lighthouse in Sun Prairie. He was born October 10, 1927 in Avoca and was the son of Nolin and Dorothy (Fox) Jones. He graduated from Richland Center High School in June of 1945 and immediately entered the U.S. Navy upon discharge he enrolled at the U.W. Wisconsin Madison and graduated in 1951. One week later he married Betty H. Bindl on June 23, 1951 in Reedsburg. Dwayne was employed at GTE (Verizon) for 37 years. Upon retiring Dwayne and Betty resided in Lake Camelot (Nekoosa) for 20 years; returning to Sun Prairie in 2007. He was a member of Sacred Hearts Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus 4th Degree.
He is survived by his wife Betty; his children, Dennis (Carol) of Denver, CO, Nancy Mautz of Sun Prairie; 3 grandchildren, Austin (Lisa) Mautz of Waukesha, Amber (Ryan) Weis of DeForest, Corey Jones of Denver; 5 great grandchildren, Grace, Jonathan, Isabella, Alexis, Henry; 2 brothers, Alden (Betty) of Sauk City, Keith (Carol) of Muscoda
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son-in-law John Mautz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 noon. on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus St., Sun Prairie, with Monsignor Duane Moellenberndt presiding. Burial will follow at Sacred Hearts Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus Street, Sun Prairie and from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church on Wednesday. The family would like to thank Agrace Hospice and Lighthouse Team Betty. The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Agrace Hospice or Knights of Columbus.
