Donald “Piner” Weisensel, age 67 died on Monday, July 9, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. He was born on September 20, 1944 in Madison and was the son of Richard and Bernice (Jesberger) Weisensel. He graduated from Sun Prairie High School in 1963. Piner worked for the Sun Prairie Post Office for over 35 years as a mail carrier. He also worked as a crossing guard for 12 years. He was very active in coaching Sacred Hearts School football, and basketball. Piner also coached women's softball league. He was an avid Wisconsin Badger Sports Fan.
He is survived by his brother, Dean (Cindy) of Sun Prairie; 5 nephews and nieces, Ryan (Sarah) Blanchard of Madison, Erin Blanchard of Sun Prairie, Mathew Weisensel of Sun Prairie, Seth Blanchard of Madison, Megan Blanchard of Sun Prairie; 2 great nephews and a great niece, Reegan and Lauren Blanchard, Isaac Abeyta and very special friend Mekhi O'Brien. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lois Blanchard.

A Funeral Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St. in Sun Prairie
A visitation will be held from 4p.m until the time of service at the funeral home on Thursday. Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 13, 2012 at Sacred Hearts Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Dr. Motl and the nurses at St. Mary's Hospital. Memorials can be made to Sacred Hearts School sports program.
