Dennis “Denny” P Burke, 76, of Sun Prairie, WI passed away peacefully at Agrace Hospice center in Fitchburg, WI on January, 11, 2024.
Dennis was born on March 12, 1947 in Chicago, IL to John and Patricia Burke. Dennis served in the United States Marine Corp from 1967 to 1972. After his time in the service Dennis worked as a printer, which moved him to Madison, WI. He worked for Madison Newspapers for many years and eventually retired from his position at the Newspaper. During retirement, Dennis enjoyed working seasonally at American Girl and also volunteered for Meals on Wheels. His faithful dog “Timmer” often accompanied him on his adventures.
Dennis married Maureen Connolly on July 6, 1967 in Oak Park, IL. Throughout the years, Dennis, Maureen and their children, Cindy, Denny and Brian, built many memories. One of the highlights of the family time together was camping at Lake George, where the family spent time with lifelong friends. Dennis also enjoyed traveling. He took many wonderful trips with his dear friends, Brian and Linda Fulton. Later in his life he always cherished the time he spent on his annual fishing trip with a close friend of the family, Mark Griesbach.
He is survived by his daughter, Cindy (Jeff) Town of Sun Prairie; a son Brian (Missy) Burke of McFarland; grandchildren, Brooke Town, Brianna (Jacob) Tolley, McKenna Town (fiancé Jesse Rogers), Phillip Town, Mike Burke and Grace Burke; great grandchildren, Aubree, Jayden, Ella and Mya; brother-in-law Robert (Wendy) Connolly; nephews, Steve (Janis) Connolly and Paul Connolly; also, Mike (Kathy) Freye and their children
Dennis was preceded in death by the love of his life and the mother of his children, Maureen T. Burke, and his loving son, Dennis B. Burke. He was also preceded in death by his second wife, Dianne “Dee” Burke and step-son, Tom Freye.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 229 Columbus St, Sun Prairie. Father William Vernon will preside. Burial will be held at Sacred Hearts Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus Street in Sun Prairie and from 10: 00 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Wednesday.
Thank you to AGRACE for all their care and support, Dad had a plan and made it happen. Dad would always say “Everyday I wake up, I’ll thank God for another day” Dad never complained and always had a smile for everyone! Love you and miss you!
