Footville – Orfordville
Darlene Yvonne Nyman, age 87, passed away Friday, November 24, 2023, at her home amongst family members. She was born March 12, 1936 in Orfordville, the daughter of Maxwell and Dorothy (Runaas) Lehr. She married Richard Nyman February 5th, 1955. After a short time working at Parker Pen she became a full-time house wife and farmed with her husband near Orfordville. “The biggest asset a farmer has is one that never gets written down in the records – a farm wife like Darlene Nyman (Rock County Electric Cooperative Newsletter). She was a long time member of Footville Church of Christ where she was a Sunday school leader, member of King’s Daughters, Friendship Class and choir. She was a lifelong promoter of the Dairy Industry, farming, conservation and served as a Plymouth 4-H Leader, participated with Rock County Farm Bureau, Dairy Promotion Trailer, and AMPI. Darlene contributed to numerous farm recognition awards over the years. She was also a multi time winner of the Rock County Dairy Dish and Wisconsin State Bake-off (in other words she was a phenomenal cook). She is survived by her husband: Richard; sister-in-law Shirley Harris of Minoqua; children: Gary of Chapin, South Carolina; Sandy Franklin, Evansville; William (Lisa), Orfordville; James (Kristin), Waddell, Arizona; and Cynthia (Osman) Moralos, Greenleaf; sister: Joyce Cawkins, Beloit; brother: Rodney (Jean) Cawkins, Janesville; sister in law: Hazel Cawkins, Orfordville; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother: Royal and brother-in-laws: Harley Cawkins and Rodney Harris; daughter-in-law: Sandy Nyman and grandson: Adam Reihl. The family would especially like to recognize the care for Darlene provided by Jill Uhe and Lisa Nyman. A memorial service will be held December 3, 2023, 1:00 p.m. at Footville Church of Christ with Pastor John Thomson officiating. A luncheon gathering will be held December 3, 2023 from 11:45 a.m. until the time of the service, and following the service, at Footville Church of Christ.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established.
