Danny L. (Dan) Crain, age 68 died on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison due to heart complications. He was born on May 27, 1949 in Springfield, TN to James and Emojean (Inman) Crain. He was the oldest of 5 children. Dan moved to Wisconsin to attend the Diesel Driving School where he met his future wife. He married Mary Tuschen on March 17, 1973 in Sun Prairie.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, his beloved dog, Rin VI and their kids-their horses, Sara, Shiloh, Sundance, Cody, Dixie and Jessie; 2 bothers, Wayne (Kay) Crain of Springfield, TN, and Randy (Angela) Crain of White House, TN; 2 sisters Donna (Charles) Bradley, and Karen (Jeff) Benton all of Springfield, TN; brothers-in-law Ronald and Dennis Tuschen of Sun Prairie; sister-in-law, Kathy Tuschen, of Sun Prairie; his favorite nephew Dale (Dawn) Tuschen of Marshall; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Dan worked in the trucking industry his entire career. He was employed by Diesel Driving School, Gary Quandt Trucking and for the last 24 years employed by Transwood Inc.
Dan was an exceptionally handy man, there wasn't anything he couldn't fix or build. He built many buildings and repaired more on their farm. If anything or any piece of equipment needed fixing just call Dan and it was fixed. He loved tinkering with trucks and cars and tolerated showing horses with Mary. Complained about horse shows but couldn't wait to tell the guys at work how he had done. He showed horses for many years and won many World and Reserve titles and a tremendous amount of awards within the state and nationally with horses that we had raised. He especially liked working with the baby horses that we bred and raised.
He liked to vacation, especially in the western United States. He greatly enjoyed the family outings to Las Vegas with Ronnie, Kathy and Dennie. Riding with his dog in his truck was his favorite past time. He was just a good, hard working man.
More than a husband and a friend, he was a “buddy”. He will be greatly missed by Mary, Rin and their kids.
A Memorial Visitation will be held at 11a.m. to 3p.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St., Sun Prairie

I am very sorry to hear of the passing of Danny. May the God of all comfort be with you during this difficult time. My deepest sympathies are with those affected.

Mary,

I just today learned of Dan's passing. I'm truly sorry for your loss. To me Dan always seemed like a man's man. He stood tall (figuratively speaking LOL) for what he believed and took full responsibility for any wrong doing. He was always my go-to guy when we needed to squeeze another load into the Transwood schedule. All I had to do was ask him to work his magic and BOOM it was done.

Dan and I shared a similar equine background (we complained about it a lot) and loved the people involved. We had many lunch time conversations discussing the successes the two of you shared in the show ring.

It was a privileged to call him a friend. I appreciated his down home, laid back attitude towards life. Yea, he'd get excited from time to time but overall he was solid as a rock. He was a creature of habit. He always drove a black Chevy truck and of course always had a dog named Rin.

Please accept the condolences of the entire Hydrite Chemical Company family. He will be missed.

Mary, I'm very sad about Dan's passing. . . .he was a co-worker for many years, but more than that, he was a friend. I loved the way you always knew where you stood with Dan, and he told you exactly what he was thinking. At the same time, he was a very caring & compassionate man, and he offered me lots of comforting words during Cindi's illness & passing. It's a big loss to you & all of your family & friends, and I know he'll be dearly missed. My thoughts & prayers are with you.

We are sorry we cannot be there for Dan's service, but you are all in our prayers here in South Dakota.

I am so sorry for y'all's loss. Praying for all the family.

Sorry to hear about Danny. We spent 12 years together in school. He was a close friend and we spent nights together at each others house. I talked to him last fall and he told me about his health problems. I told him to hang in there and be strong and keep fighting.
I will keep his family in my prayers.

I first met Mary and Dan when I worked at the Diesel Truck Driving School. I went to their wedding, stayed friends LONG after moving on to other employment. We raised and showed horses together, laughed and cried together, and have been life long friends. Dan was truly a 'great man' and he was definitely Mary's soulmate. See you Saturday Mary. God Bless. So sorry to hear the sad news in Danny's passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and if there is anything you need, please lean on us for anything. Danny is truly someone that we won't forget. He holds a special place in our hearts and will be in our memories forever. Love you Mary, and again, we are here for you.

I won't forget his deadpan humor. The man was hysterical but never cracked a smile. I really enjoyed his company.

Wayne, I want you to know they I am thinking about you and pray for you to have the strength that God gives to those in times of grieve. I icould not have made it without God's hand in mine.
I want your family to know that you are one of the most caring neighbors I have. Wayne comes to my aid for whatever the need may be. I am handicapped and it means so much to have him nearby. He has mailed the cord to my electric scooter to me in Texas when I forgot it, come to clean up where my carpet after the dog had an accident and much more. HE and Danny were cerainly alike ans Wayne is always building something.
