Cynthia Jean Meixner, age 73, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2022. She was born on April 27, 1949 in Mauston, the daughter of Blaine and Lola (Clark) Sparby. Cindy graduated from DeForest High School in 1967. After graduation she went to work for the State of Wisconsin. In 1983 she started at the Department of Revenue. From there she transferred to Dept of Transportation in the Revocation and Suspension department. She then transferred across the hallway to CNR. Some of her co-workers were hired by her dad many years before when he was the supervisor. She was well liked in all her positions and had made life-long friends. She retired in 2013. After retirement she worked part-time at Walmart in Sun Prairie, where again she made many friends. She was a kind caring person, helping out anyone in need. Cindy was a long time member of North Windsor United Methodist Church, DeForest. She married Kevin Meixner on December 24, 1996 in Durand WI. Cindy is survived by: her husband Kevin of Deforest; her one and only child Stacie (Bill) Prochaska of Arena; the 3 grandchildren who brought great joy to her; Brenna, Clark (her favorite grandson), and Morgan, who all called her “Nonnie”. Stacie was her everything and rarely said no to her. She would make clothes for her when she was young. She supported her in all her dance activities, sewing whatever needed to be done to her costumes. They would go camping at different Yogi Bear Campgrounds. She loved listening to 50’s and 60’s music. Her ultimate favorite group was The Statler Brothers. She went to many of their concerts as well as others including Elvis, Conway Twitty, George Jones, Kenny Rogers, Tommy Roe, Jan and Dean who performed at Noah’s Ark on the pool house, and many more country artists. She also enjoyed going to the Grand Ole Opry. Cindy loved to travel but only by car, even though she had a big fear of bridges. She never flew in an airplane. Cindy would stop and eat at Cracker Barrel as often as she could. Cindy and her sister Linda, drove Stacie out to Syracuse NY for a wedding. Cindy, Kevin, and Stacie drove out to Pasadena for the 1994 WI Rose Bowl, sightseeing on the way. She went on numerous trips with Kevin, her BFF Helen, her cousin Alohoa (Cecil), and other family members. A fun trip was a girls only trip to Nashville with Alohoa, Betsy, and Linda. What she enjoyed the most was taking her grandkids to Disney World. She took each of them separately when they turned 5, and again when they turned 10 and many times in between. She was also a big supporter of each grand kid. Attending all dance recitals, school activities, church activities, hockey games, and anything else they were involved in. She also enjoyed attending the WI Badger Hockey games as a family. For a few years they had season tickets. The kids looked forward to Nonnie getting them popcorn during the 1st intermission and ice cream during the 2nd. She made sure they each had Badger clothing to wear to the game.
She is also survived by her brother Butch (Fran) Sparby of Waunakee; her sister Linda Gohre of Florida; lifelong “sister” Helen Ballweg, of Florida; brothers in-law Allen (Diane) Meixner and Dale (Janet) Meixner and many nieces and nephews.
