Clifford R. Hoiby, age 76, died on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. He was born on October 24, 1937 in Madison to Raymond Hoiby and Myrtle (Parr) (Hoiby) Christianson. He was married to Janet Ottow on March 24, 1956 in Lake Mills. Clifford was a veteran of the US Army, serving in Germany from 1955-1958. He worked as a highway engineer at the State of Wisconsin D.O.T. for 36 years. Cliff was a generous blood donor throughout his life. He liked golfing, fishing, hunting, cards, casinos and arcades. He is survived by his wife Janet; 2 daughters Debbie (James) Zamzow of Merrimac, and Gail (Steven) Lancaster of Argyle; 1 son Michael (Cari Anne) Hoiby of Sun Prairie; 10 grandchildren Nathaniel “Sam”, Derrick, Jason, Brandon, Emma, Zach “Ole”, Kevin, Sara, Cole, and Emily; 1 great-grandson Julian; 1 sister Beverly Sullivan of Sonoma, CA; 1 brother James (Janice) Hoiby of Cambridge; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law Harvey and Hazel Dempski of Port Charlotte, FL. He was preceded in death by his Beagle, Rags; his parents; his step-father Willard Christianson: 2 sisters, Carol Lucey and Barbara Mooney; brother-in-laws Arnold Ottow Jr. and Daniel Sullivan. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St. in Sun Prairie. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Western Wisconsin Chapter or a charity of your choice.
