Carol I. Wendt, age 73, died on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. She was born on May 1, 1939 in Reedsburg and was the daughter of Paul and Ilda (Schaefer) Steinweg. She married Donald Wendt on June 1, 1963 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Janesville. Carol worked for the State of Wisconsin for over 40 years. She also was an avid Wisconsin Badger Fan for Hockey and Football. She is survived by 3 children, Linda Wendt of Madison, John (Madonna) Wendt of Cottage Grove, Diane (Christopher) McFarlin of Sun Prairie; 2 grandchildren, Elizabeth Wendt and Hope McFarlin; 2 sisters, Betty Ann (Roger) Bakken of Blue Mounds, Karen Sue (Don) Kadis of Milwaukee; a brother, Duane (Marsha) Steinweg of Portage. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at the Burke Lutheran Church, 5720 Portage Road in Madison. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park in Madison.
A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus Street in Sun Prairie. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Dane County Humane Society or the U. W. Veterinary School, or American Diabetes Association.
