Carol C. Suchomel, age 52, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2013 after a long battle with cancer at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on June 28, 1961 in Lafayette, Indiana and was the daughter of Gil and Helen (Crosby) Churchill. Carol graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a teaching degree, and went on to fulfill her master's. She married Jeffrey Suchomel on October 8, 1983 at Sacred Hearts Catholic Church. They have four children – Kayla, Kelsey, Sean and Brent. Carol was a passionate educator teaching her students, family and friends the important things in life. She was driven by the love and devotion she had for her family and friends. Her life's purpose taught us that love never fails, humor is the best medicine, and that kindness makes the heart grow stronger. Carol worked tirelessly to make sure everyone was taken care of, always putting others needs above her own. Carol was an inspiration to so many people, all of which have learned the true meaning of love and family through her journey. Her legacy will live on forever, her teachings are engraved in our minds and hearts, and she has taught us all to be the best that we can be, living our lives better. She will be sorely missed by all whose lives she has touched. Forever we are blessed with God's greatest angel.
She is survived by her loving husband Jeff; devoted daughters, Kayla (Alex) Degnan, Kelsey Suchomel and loyal son Sean Suchomel all of Sun Prairie; her best friends and parents Gil and Helen Churchill of Lodi; sister Elizabeth (Stephen Schmid) Churchill of Madison; two brothers, David Churchill of Denver, and Tom (Kelly) Churchill of Sun Prairie and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother John and an infant son Brent. She joins them along with brother-in-law Scott Mitchell, Aunt Carol May, Uncle Dave Parrett, and Uncle Kurt Stromberg, friends Rhonda Smith and Tim Nehmer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 noon on July 6th, 2013 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus Street in Sun Prairie. Monsignor Duane Moellenberndt will preside. Burial will be in the Sacred Hearts Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 5, 2013 at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St. in Sun Prairie and from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Saturday. The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorials can be made to University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center for brain cancer research and Sun Prairie Educational Foundation. An additional memorial will be made in Honor of Carol Suchomel, to be determined at later date.
