Carol J. Grenier, age 82, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at the Flagstaff Medical Center, Arizona as the result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. She was surrounded by her loving family. Carol was born on April 26, 1932 at home in Two Rivers, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of John and Emma Flegle. Carol graduated from Washington High School, Two Rivers, WI in 1950. She married William Grenier on November 7, 1953 at St. Mark's Church, Two Rivers. They enjoyed 60 years of marriage before he passed away in July, 2014.
Carol was a Girl Scout, becoming a leader while still in high school and later with her daughters' troops.
Starting in 1950, she worked as a secretary for the Two Rivers City Clerk, she was a typist in the State of Washington where her husband was stationed in the Army, and she raised 5 children before working for The Wisconsin Cheeseman, Dr. Sartori's Veterinarian Office, General Telephone and J&M Fibers.
Carol loved her family and enjoyed the many family gatherings, especially birthday parties and Christmas celebrations. She loved watching the grandkids' sports and music activities. She enjoyed traveling and visiting many places throughout the United States and Europe, including Germany and Italy. She spent many hours crocheting afghans, knitting wash cloths, sewing pot-holders, cooking, baking, putting picture albums together, and gardening. She loved flowers of all kinds (especially yellow roses), music and dancing.
She enjoyed her recent time at The Lighthouse and the many friends she made there.
Surviving members of her family include daughters, Marcelyn (Paul) Thornburgh, Kathryn (John) Grenier-Cardott, Lora Lockman, and sons Jon (Deborah) Grenier and Douglas (Shannon) Grenier. Grandchildren: Thomas (Megan) Thornburgh, Michael (Molly) Thornburgh, Trever (Cheyenne) Weichmann, Tina (Nick) Graham, Connie (Troy) Hauge, Brenda (Brian) Broughman, Matthew and Emily Grenier, Corbin, Gavin and Jayden Grenier; great grandchildren: Lillian, Oliver, Leonidas, Beau, Jami, Reid, Luke, Josie and Branden. Other surviving relatives include her sister, Elaine Schuetze; sister-in-law Evie Flegle and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother, Howard Flegle; brother-in-law Ralph Schuetze and son-in-law Douglas Lockman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, Sun Prairie, with Msgr. Duane Moellenberndt presiding. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 1 and 9:00-10:45 a.m. on May 2, 2015 at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, Sun Prairie. Entombment will be held at Sun Prairie Memory Gardens at a later time.
