Carol Jane Guenther, age 80, formerly of Sun Prairie, died on Thursday, March 19, 2020. Carol was born on August 20, 1939 in Ironwood, MI to Harold and Elizabeth (Winkowski) Harper.

Carol graduated from U.W. Whitewater with a degree in education. She worked 20 years for the Sun Prairie Public Library, was a member of Sacred Hearts Catholic Church, St. Ann Catholic Church, Sun Prairie Business Professional Women’s Foundation, Newcomers Group, University Women’s Club in Iowa City, and the Red Hat Society in Iowa City.

She is survived by her 3 daughters, Susan (Ron) Maas of Rochester, MN, Jane Taylor of Iowa City, and Jill (Matt) Guenther of Stoughton; 10 grandchildren, Emily, Rick, Kathryn, David, Aly, Tessa, Shane, James, Noelle and Greta; 2 brothers Dale (Maryann) Harper and Rodney (Sharon) Harper.

She is preceded in death by her parents; son James Taylor; 1 sister Shirley Harper; and grandson Jacob Metzger.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church in Sun Prairie at a later date due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

I remember many wonderful Business and Professional Women's Club meetings hosted by Sun Prairie BPW. Carol was always so welcoming to those meetings, always had a smile on her face and a kind word to share.. She was quite the lady and will be sadly missed. May memories of good times past bring you comfort during this sad time. In deepest sympathy.

My Sympathy and Prayers for the Family. Carol was a beautiful person of faith who was devoted to her family. I first got to know her as a friend of several of my Sister friends. Then I enjoyed working with her in her position as secretary at the Sun Prairie Public Library where I also worked. She will be missed by many who knew her.

Susan, Jane, Jill My deepest sympathy. I knew Jill, but remember all of you. Your Mother was a special person, always smiling, kind, and friendly. I will watch for future notice from Sacred Hearts.
