Barbara Czygan, a recently retired US Postal worker and resident of Madison, died unexpectedly on August 13, 2015 at the age of 68 while vacationing in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
She was born in Delmenhorst, Germany on August 27, 1946. She and her parents, Ellen and Wolfgang Czygan, moved to the US when she was 3. They lived in the Chicago area for many years until moving to Madison. Barbara attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and graduated with a PhD. in Language Studies. She started her career at the US Postal service and recently retired after 29 years of service.
Barbara loved to travel. She made many trips across the US and abroad. She enjoyed many trips with her wonderful travel companion Janet. She enjoyed all of her travels, but especially enjoyed any vacation that led her to the mountains. She also enjoyed the art of photography and took many beautiful pictures during her travels.
Over the years she shared her home with many cats. She leaves behind her cat Monty that will continue to be lovingly cared for by her good friend Cindy.
Barbara is survived by her mother Ellen. She is preceded in death by her father. She will be truly missed by many.
A visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St. in Sun Prairie. Burial will be held at Sun Prairie City Cemetery. Cards of condolence can be sent to: Ellen Czygan 228 W. Main St. Sun Prairie, WI 53590
