Barbara Ann (Belda) Young, age 79, died Monday, February 29, 2016 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. Barb was born on October 6, 1936 in Windsor Township and was the daughter of Edmund and Bernice (Runde) Belda. She married William (Bill) Young on September 7, 1959 at Sacred Hearts Church in Sun Prairie. Barb was a proud graduate of the St. Mary's Hospital Nursing School in 1958. She practiced as a RN for many years, ending her career as a Nurse Administrator at Central Wisconsin Center for the Developmentally Disabled in Madison. Barb and Bill retired to Wautoma to enjoy the Sand County together. During her retirement, Barb volunteered with Project Linus, the Wautoma Library and the St. Mark's Parish of Red Granite's Women Auxiliary. Barb loved her family and to sew, rock garden, scrapbook, bake and travel with Bill.
Barb is survived by her two children, Julie (Steve) Young-Burns of Minneapolis, and Will (Peg) Young of Dodgeville; two grandchildren, Kiah (Aric Nelson) Young-Burns of Minneapolis, and Martha (Larry Mikrut) Young-Burns of Chicago; sisters Mary (Clem) Batz and Beatrice Pronely and brother John (Joan) Belda along with many nieces and nephews.
Barb is preceded in death by her husband Bill, her parents, her bother-in-law Edward Pronley and sister-in-law Linda Havlik.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 noon on Friday, March 4, 2016 at St Albert the Great Catholic Church, 2420 St. Albert Drive in Sun Prairie. Monsignor Terrence Connors will preside. A visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Friday A light luncheon for family and friends will follow at the Round Table in Sun Prairie.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, Agrace HospiceCare or the Children's Defense Fund.
