Arlene M. Weisensel, age 96 died on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at Prairie Gardens Assisted Living. She was born on April 19, 1925 in Columbia County and was the daughter of Ernest and Martha (Stevermer) Schmitt. She married Harland Weisensel on September 17, 1946, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in East Bristol. They were a lifelong farmers in the Sun Prairie area. Arlene and her sister Marguerite volunteered for many years providing funeral luncheons for Sacred Hearts.
She is survived by her; 3 sons, Roger (Rebecca) of Sun Prairie, Greg of Madison, and Ray (Kathy) of Sun Prairie; 1 daughter, Veronica (Frank) Jesberger of Sun Prairie; daughter-in-law Kay Weisensel of Marshall; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister Marguerite Bedner; a brother Francis (Erna) Schmitt both of Sun Prairie; a sister-in-law Shirley (Herb) Benish; a brother-in-law, Robert W. (Elaine) Weisensel of Sun Prairie
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Harland; son Howard; brothers Clem and Cletus.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus St., Sun Prairie, with Monsignor Duane Moellenberndt presiding. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at the Church on Tuesday. Burial will be at Sacred Hearts Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Sacred Hearts Building and Grounds Fund.
