Arleen A. Oestreicher passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2016 after a brief illness.
She was born Feb. 5, 1930 to Ben and Elvina (Blaska) Blaschka. She graduated from Sun Prairie High School in 1948 and was looking forward to her 68th Class Reunion next month. On April 15, 1950 Arleen married Louis Oestreicher Jr.
While living in Watertown, Arleen was employed at Steinhorst's Egg Factory, worked in the kitchen at Sacred Heart's Military Academy and worked at the West Side Diner. After their retirement, Arleen and Louis moved to Waterloo where she did church maintenance at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Arleen is survived by her son, Steve (Barb) of Harshaw; granddaughters Katie Grandaw of Green Bay and Sarah (Nate) Dencker of Freedom and great grandchildren Alex Grandaw and Ben and Paige Dencker; sister Generose Koeppl of Raleigh, NC; brothers Tony (Mardy) Blaschka and Paul (Dawn) Blaschka of Sun Prairie; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Louis and a sister Maryellen Blaschka.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus Street, Sun Prairie. Monsignor Duane Moellenberndt will preside. Interment will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Waterloo. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Thursday.
The family is very grateful for the compassionate care given to Arleen by the staff of St. Mary's Hospital; the Columbus Hospital and Columbus Health and Rehab.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Island Church Foundation.
