Verna M. Bedner, age 87, passed away on Monday, October 10, 2022. She was born in Sun Prairie and was the daughter of Alois and Florence (Suchomel) Weber. She married John Bedner on June 1, 1957 at Sacred Hearts Catholic Church. Verna was a long-time volunteer at the Sun Prairie Historical Museum. She was committed to being a poll worker, retiring at age 80. She was devoted to her family, enjoyed baking, and was an avid gardener.
Verna is survived by 6 children, Joan, Jill, Linda, Susan (Rick) Vogel, Sharon, Bruce (GiGi) Bedner; 4 grandchildren, Julia and April Vogel, Bridget and Gretchen Bedner. She also is survived by her siblings John (Ellen) Weber, Diane (Rich) Vandervest, Karen (Ed) Castro, Janice Kocinski, Larry Weber, and Rodney (Diane) Weber, and sisters-in-law Virginia Bedner and Carol (Ronald) Zander, and many nieces and nephews.
Verna is preceded in death by her parents, husband John, sister and brother-in-law Irma and Eugene Quamme, and brother-in-law Wayne Kocinski.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, October 14, 2022, at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 229 Columbus Street in Sun Prairie with Father Thomas Kelley presiding. Burial will be at Sacred Hearts Cemetery in Sun Prairie. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Friday. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Sacred Hearts School Endowment Fund.
