Stanley Edward Derr, age 83, died on Friday, April 1, 2011 at Oakwood Village, East, Madison. He was born in Sun Prairie, WI on August 20, 1927, the son of William and Eleanor (Fox) Derr. He married Marjorie Seltzner on June 21, 1949 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in East Bristol. She passed away on May 1, 2009. Stanley was a Korean War Veteran. He farmed all his life, was a welder for various employers, and a “jack of all trades.” He could make or fix most anything. He loved his grandchildren, and his new great grandson. He was also an avid deer hunter.
He is survived by his 4 children: Diane (Edward) Hensen, David Derr, Marie (Dennis) Benz, Nancy (David) Ohman all of Sun Prairie; 6 grandchildren, Kayla Hensen, Melissa (Phil) Schrabeck, Michael and Adam Benz, Russell and Beth Ohman; great grandson Jackson Schrabeck; 2 sisters Aroline Connor, and Elaine (Robert) Seltzner; and a brother Leon (Donna) Derr. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marjorie, brothers, Reuben, Lester, Ralph, Paul and an infant brother Leo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus Street in Sun Prairie with Monsignor Duane Moellenberndt presiding. Burial will be in Sacred Hearts Cemetery. A visitation will be held at Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus Street, Sun Prairie, on Monday, April 4 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. with a scripture service following at 7:00 p.m. There will be a visitation at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of mass.
