Ruth M. Schmitt, age 77, passed away on Monday, February 7, 2011 at the Karmenta Health Care Center in Madison. She was born on September 12, 1933 and was the daughter of Edwin and Helen (Schuch) Schmitt.
Survivors include her sisters, Lucy (Roger) Weiner of Columbus, Judy (Tom) Kotche of Gambrills, Maryland, Barbara Durst of Superior; her brothers, David (Cathy) Schmitt of Oregon, Jim (Jackie) Schmitt of Cottage Grove and many nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus Street in Sun Prairie with Father John Putzer presiding. Burial will be held at Sacred Hearts Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church on Saturday.
Ruth was a special person who inspired goodness in the people around her. She enjoyed going to school, singing, and swimming.
The family thanks Debbie Rogan, Director of Pathways, and her staff for enriching Ruth’s life, the caretakers at Karmenta for making a home for Ruth for so many years, and Dr. Gregory Motl for his care.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Pathways, 121 South Hancock Street, Madison WI 53703.
