The old lion is dead. On July 28, 2019, Rudy Kopp, age 92, ceased to be, at Wood's Crossing, Brodhead, owing to metastatic lung cancer. He has passed on, kicked the bucket, shuffled off this mortal coil, run down the curtain, and joined the choir invisible. He is an ex person. Rudy was born onContinue Reading

OMG, he sounds like an amazing man! More power to you Rudy!
Gordon Holcomb left a message on August 19, 2019:
I never knew Rudy, but wish I had. I grew up in Washington Township and, as a kid, only knew Rudy by sight for his impressive mustache.
Joanne Stecker left a message on August 14, 2019:
I did not know Rudy but he sounds like he was a fantastic person! My uncle was Duane Schwartz and my cousin, Heidi shared his obituary. He would be happy to know that because it was long, I had to read it! Life is for the living and it sure sounds like that is what he did! What a cool legacy! Enjoy the memories!
Russell Lund left a message on August 12, 2019:
I known Rudy for many years and have enjoyed every moment. When he was in the Milwaukee b\Burn Center I called him every Thursday night about 7:00 PM to keep him up to date on the happenings of Orfordville. I also had hauled his milk for a few years. He will be missed by many.

Rudy once gave me a ride in his Packard. Of course, he pronounced it his PA-CARD. Give it your most sophisticated pronunciation and you will get it right. Think Hyacinth Bucket of the BBC sitcom Keeping Up Appearances. Great memories of a great man.

What a wonderful tribute to an inspiring life.

I didn't know you in life, but if your obit is any indication, I seriously missed out. A man after my own heart, I can only hope to touch a 1/10 of the lives you touched. Rudy, we hardly knew ye (for relationship there wasn't an option for "Kindred spirit".)
Peter Moore left a message on August 4, 2019:
Rudy Kopp ...thanks for making life so much better for me and so many others ! You made me think about the simple things in life that are so very important and what ever our age , it's never too late to try something new! When I think of kindness I will always think of you!r

I served many, many people during my time as a waitress. Rudy was right up there as the best. I was lucky enough to have experienced a ride in the Packard, sampled Swiss treats, and learned about constellations during a viewing session. But more so I was lucky to have met Rudy. His quality, kindness, sincerity, and generosity are hard to find and even harder to forget. He set a wonderful example and created many memories that I cherish because he went out of his way to do kind things. I'm so very sorry for your loss, but please know that his spirit and his impact on others live on.

I did not know Rudy, but as I inherited my mother's habit of reading obits I saw this posted on the Tuschen Funeral Home website (I grew up in Sun Prairie and check it regularly). You don't often get a chance to laugh along with an obit, and this made my day and renewed my sometimes wavering faith in the human race since I agree with him on all accounts (and I get the Monty Python references and certainly would not want to be put in a Vern Gagne sleeper hold). I hope there are more like him out there, young and old alike, that may be our only hope for the future. Feel free to delete if deemed inappropriate, but I could not resist. Here's to Rudy!

An icon in the Footville/Orfordville area for many many years, Rudy and his antics and humor will be greatly missed. R.I.P. ol' man. Say HI to everyone in Heaven.
