Mary (Kay) Bartosch, 87, died Monday, October 3, 2011. She was born on April 20, 1924 in Macomb, Illinois, daughter of Joseph and Ruth Arnold. She graduated from Macomb High School and worked in Washington D.C. for the War Production Board during W.W. II and later, the Maritime Commission. She married Lawrence Bartosch on April 22, 1946 in St. Paul's Church, Macomb, Ill. and moved to Madison. In later years she worked at the University of Wisconsin, Bursar's Office. Her involvement in her church was as important to Kay as the care of her family. She had a strong belief in the Lord and it was evident in her caring contact with others. She was an active member of St. Dennis Parish and Altar Society, Madison and after moving to Sun Prairie in 1997 she was a member of Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Parish and St. Ann's Society. Kay was also a member of the Schoenstatt Family League since 1970. Kay's smiling face will be greatly missed as will her outgoing, friendly attitude to everyone she met. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence, of 65 years and their 5 children – Dennis (Nancy) Rothschild, John (Sharon), Madison, Jean Ann, Madison, Paul (Patti), Madison and Mary Denise Madison, Sun Prairie; 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Kay is also survived by 3 sisters and 3 brothers.
She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Earl Arnold and infant Paul Arnold and 1 sister, Jean Lee.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 noon on Friday, October 7, 2011 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus Street in Sun Prairie, with Monsignor Duane Moellenberndt presiding. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens in Cottage Grove. A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday October 6, 2011 at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home 302 Columbus St. in Sun Prairie from 10:30 a.m. until 11:45a.m at the funeral home on Friday. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Garden cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Schoenstatt Sisters and Fathers for future vocations or Sacred Hearts Parish, Sun Prairie endowment fund.
