Loren G. Klein age 87 passed away on Monday, January 2, 2012 at Prairie Gardens in Sun Prairie. He was born on March 3, 1924 and was the son of Edwin and Frances (Goetzinger) Klein. He married Velma Puttkammer on May 14, 1949 at East Bristol. Loren served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during WWII and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Sun Prairie Legion Post #333 and V.F.W. Post 9362. He worked for 45 years at the Wisconsin Porcelain Company.
He is survived by his 6 children, Diane (Ron Retallick) Halverson of Arena, Linda (Steve) Schreihart of Madison, Gary (Doug O'Donnell) Klein of Tucson, AZ, Randy (Cindy) Klein of Brodhead, Tom (Lauren) Klein of Brookfield, Tim (Charo) Klein of Palma de Mallorca, Spain; 12 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Klein of Madison, Irene (John) Morschauser of Deerfield, Vera (James) Atteln of Sun Prairie, Helen Waller of Watertown, Alice (Gene) Buechner of Madison.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Velma; brother, Gerald; sisters, Dorothy Koch and Violet Brandenstein.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus St. in Sun Prairie. Monsignor Duane Moellenberndt will preside. A visitation will be held from 10:00 until the time of service at the church on Saturday. Entombment will be held at Sun Prairie Memory Gardens, where the Sun Prairie Legion and V.F.W. will hold graveside military rites. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Sacred Hearts Catholic Church or Olbrich Gardens.
