Joy Lynne Anderson, age 52, was promoted to Glory early Sunday morning, November 14, 2010, surrounded by loved ones after a long, courageous battle with brain cancer. Joy was born to Pastor John and Barbara Sherman in Owatonna, Minnesota. She was raised in a Christian home in various cities throughout the Midwest. She graduated from Maranatha Baptist Academy in 1976 and Pillsbury Baptist Bible College in 1981. After graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, Paul L. Anderson on June 20 1981. Their first 12 years of marriage were spent working on the Anderson family farm in Sun Prairie. During this time, Joy and Paul were blessed with their son, Joshua, and daughter, Sara. In 1993, Joy began her career at Bank of Sun Prairie in the Trust Department. She was an extremely devoted employee who showed her love for her job and developed many meaningful and treasured friendships. As a young girl, Joy accepted the Lord as her Savior and continued to serve Him throughout her entire life. She loved serving in children’s ministries at Calvary Baptist Church. Joy was a loving and devoted wife, as well as an incredible mother to her two children. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, including reading, long drives with her husband, and going out to dinner. She is survived by her husband Paul, her son, Joshua (Jen) of Sun Prairie, and her daughter, Sara, of Sun Prairie. Her parents, John and Barbara Sherman of Apple Valley, MN, her siblings; Tim (Lisa) Sherman of Hastings, MN, Julie (Frank) of Apple Valley, MN, and Mark (Karrie) Sherman of Owatonna, MN, as well many nieces and nephews; her mother in law, Nila Anderson of Sun Prairie and a loving extended family. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and her father in law, LaVerne “Red” Anderson. Joy was very grateful for the many expressions of support and love during her time of illness. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at Calvary Baptist Church, 304 Woodward Drive in Sun Prairie. Burial will be at Sun Prairie Memory Gardens. A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St., in Sun Prairie and from 12 noon until the time of service at the church on Thursday. The family is establishing a memorial fund.
