Jerry Arthur Murphy (DOB 9/1/65), 53, of Sun Prairie finished his 6 year battle with cancer just after midnight on September 18th, 2018. He did so on his own terms, at home, surrounded by family, and without pain. He was born in Orange, CA, the youngest son of Glenn and Shirley (Wingo) Murphy.
In 1987 he was married to Kimberly Rudisaille. They have one daughter, Heather Lynn Murphy.
Jerry was employed by PaR Systems in Shoreview, MN since 2004. Jerry was a founding member and Chief of the Dixie Cup Volunteer Fire Department, a key position he held begrudgingly until the day he left us. He was an active member of the online gaming community, where he as the legendary Laggin' Lefty battled virtual foes and facilitated the real-life meeting of his sister Dena and future brother-in-law Darin. Jerry's mechanical skills flourished by virtue of collecting and rebuilding derelict lawn tractors with his brother-in-law. Thanks to his big Irish heart, he never hesitated to help others – possessing a giving nature and friendly personality that endeared him to all who had the privilege of meeting Jerry.
He is survived by father Glenn L. Murphy (Cecilia) and mother Shirley M. (Wingo) Murphy, his brothers Glenn A. (Christine), and Michael P. (Ronda) and his sister Dena (Darin) Pfaff. He leaves behind his wife Kimberly, his daughter Heather, five grand-daughters, and nine nieces and nephews.
Jerry was very much an outdoors person, so in keeping with his wishes his ashes will be spread at a family property in the Pacific Northwest at a later date. Memorial gifts in Jerry Murphy's memory can be made to the Colorectal Cancer Alliance 1025 Vermont Ave NW Suite 1066
