Jean M. Kizer, age 96, passed away Saturday, April 10, 2021 in Rockford, Illinois. She was born on June 26, 1925 in Milford, Iowa. She was one of two daughters born to Frederick and Esther LaFontaine. Jean briefly worked in California after which she returned to marry Wayne E. Kizer on August 6, 1945 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Milford, Iowa.
She is survived by her 2 daughters, Susan (Neil) Wolfe and Theresa A. Kizer, both of Loves Park, Illinois and her 2 sons, Mark (Grace) Kizer of Irvine, California and John (Denise) Kizer of Harper Woods, Michigan. Jean is also survived and loved by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Jean was predeceased in death by her parents, her husband Wayne, her son James, her grandson Kris and her sister, Joyce.
She was an active parishioner at St. Jude’s Catholic Parish, Beloit, Wisconsin until they moved to Sun Prairie at which time they became parishioners of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Parish. Jean was a long-time member of the St. Anne’s Women’s Society and was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for the many years she volunteered at the Society of St. Vincent DePaul, Sun Prairie, Wisconsin.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 229 Columbus Street in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. Father Thomas Kelley will preside. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
