Inez L. Weisensel, age 97 passed away on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at HospiceCare Inc. in Fitchburg. She was born on June 3, 1913 in Stoughton and was the daughter of Einar and Anna (Hagen) Hanson. She was a graduate of the U.W. Madison in Zoology. She married Norbert “Nubs” Weisensel on June 11, 1938 in Madison. She along with her husband owned and operated Weisensel’s clothing store in Sun Prairie and retired in 1976.
She is survived by her 3 children, Peter (Eunice) of St. Paul, MN, Jon (Barbara) of Barron, Ellen (Gordon) Gehrke of West Bend; 6 grandchildren, Garrick (Jill) Gehrke, Gwen (Josh) Ampe, Brett (Risa) Weisensel, Heidi Weisensel, Danielle Weisensel, Wesley (Danielle) Rood; 10 great grandchildren; a sister Phyllis (Bill) Turrentine of Garden City KS; a sister-in-law, Irma Irwin of Sun Prairie; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Nubs in 1993; a sister Marian Thorpe and a brother-in-law, Norman Thorpe.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus St. in Sun Prairie with Monsignor Duane Moellenberndt presiding. Burial will be held at Sacred Hearts Cemetery in Sun Prairie. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Saturday. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Sacred Hearts School Endowment Fund.
