Floyd James Ripp, age 55 passed away at UW Hospital in Madison on July 14th 2011, after a sudden illness. On September 3rd, 1983 he married Patricia at a chapel in Cottage Grove and started their bond of love and life together. He was blessed with 3 daughters, Renee (Justin) Schutte, Amber and Gwen. He was a special person, given special birthday, born on February 29th, 1956 in Madison to Peter and Elizabeth (Dorn) Ripp. Floyd was working at Avis Rent a Car in addition to being a devoted farmer and coach. Most recently he was Cross County coach at Waterloo High School and assistant for the Waunakee Track and Field team. His greatest legacy as a coach was at the Columbus High School heading the Cross County team and assistant coach to the Track and Field team. Throughout these 20+ years of coaching he inspired many kids to reach their full potential therefore forming many successful teams including taking his daughters to state, with his wife by his side. As life continued running became a personal passion which he shared with Pat, competing in races together. Many memorable family times were formed around this activity. He was a talented athlete, completed schooling at Waunakee High school in 1974. Floyd helped in the success of the football team with his perfected kicking skills. He attended UW Whitewater and on the football team also, with his strong leg kicking a 45 yard field goal. Together, Floyd and Pat dairy farmed, then moved to the Town of Hampden, and side by side lived off this good earth. Owning his own farm, working the land and the animals he raised were his pride and joy. He was a loving, kind hearted and easy going father and husband of 27 years. He touched many lives, grieving is his wife Patricia, 3 daughters Renee (Justin) Schutte, Madison, Amber and Gwen Milwaukee. His mother, Elizabeth, Waunakee and in laws, Roger and Mary Ann Madden, Sheboygan Falls. Further survived by 3 sisters Karen (John) Loos, Elaine (Don) Kitchen, Lu Ann (Mark) Miley, and brother Marvin (Jane) Ripp, and Madden in laws; Robert (Marie), Mark (Kathleen), James (Sue), Kathleen (Tom Schoenfeld), and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles, and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday July 21, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in East Bristol. Father Robert Butz will preside. A visitation will be held from 4:00- 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday July 20, 2011 at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home 302 Columbus Street in Sun Prairie and from 12 noon until the time of service at the church on Thursday.
