I want to express my sincerest condolences to your family. I haven't seen or talked to Floyd in many years. My brother notified of Floyds passing and just wanted to leave a note. Floyd and I played on the Waunakee High Scholl Basketball team together. He was a great guy.lze2w

WOW! What to say? I'm sure no matter what anyone says-we won't be able to take the pain away (& that is what we would like to do!). But please let us help lighten the load, somewhat, by knowing you all are cared about!! It just doesn't seem right when someone so young was taken from us-and so suddenly (but then it never seems right)! We were so sorry to hear about Coach. Stephanie was on his cross country team in Waterloo. I know all the team thought he was the greatest! & he did SO MUCH for them! He was THERE, he BELIEVED in them, never criticized, was ALWAYS supportive-there's not many coaches that make you want to go out for a sport 'cuz of how they treat you (usually it's the other way around). If he was this way to people who were not related to him-I can only imagine how he was to his own family! SO, SO sorry for your loss & so sorry for your pain! Pat, you & your family, will be in our prayers OFTEN! Hang on tight to each other & hug often!! I pray that you feel God's arms around you-huge & protective-safe to go to! Love, Mary (for all of the Stodola's)

Heather Martens - Raffel left a message on July 20, 2011:
Very sorry to hear about Floyd's passing. My sincerest condolences to your entire family. He had a great passion and knowledge for the sport of cross country and it was always fun to run into him at meets. He will be missed. As a coach it's always nice to win, but the best thing ever is to see that smile on a kid's face after they accomplished something they never thought they could. We want them to succeed not just in sport, but also in life and I think he gave his kids the tools and confidence to do so and more. Always continuing the belief that anything is possible if you just work hard at it and believe in yourself. Best to you and your entire family. Heather Martens-Raffel Waunakee Grad, Waunakee XC and track coach

My sincere sympathy for your loss. I grew up nearly next door to the Ripps and graduated from Waunakee High School with Floyd. He was a true asset to our class. I know this is a horrible time for you but I hope you can take comfort in the fact that God knows what He is doing and everything is for a reason. Please know you are all in my thoughts and prayers. Dear Patricia and family, I want to send my sincere condolences to you and your family. It was a pleasure to coach with and against your husband in the Capitol Conf. My lasting memory of Floyd is his humility and even-tempered nature both in victory and in success; always a gentleman! May you find comfort in knowing that he is resting safely with his Lord and Savior! God bless you, Gerry Walta CC/Track Coach Lakeside Lutheran High School

Coach Ripp was a dedicated and respected coach, who gave up much of his time to the development of young athletes. But most of all he was an honorable gentleman who did things the right way. He was a great role model for the athletes he coached. He will be sorely missed- Coach Ellington Mayville
