Sun Prairie
Eileen M. Lehman, age 87 passed away on Monday, June 7, 2010 at HospiceCare inc. in Fitchburg after a short illness. She was born on September 8, 1922 in Dubuque, Iowa and was the daughter of Raymond and Marguerite (Rooney) McQuillen. Educated in Catholic schools and graduating from Clarke College in Dubuque. She finished a internship at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago. She worked as a dietitian in hospitals in Davenport and Dubuque for 4 years. She married Robert Lehman on July 31, 1948 after he returned from WWII naval service. Together they raised 6 children and enjoyed meeting new friends as they moved into new communities. The move to Sun Prairie proved to be the best and last. Here they enjoyed watching the children mature, as well as finding time for travel, golf, dance, card playing, and grandchildren’s activities. Eileen’s volunteer work included helping with special education, religion class, reading assistance at elementary class, and working at the food pantry. She is survived by her sons, Michael (Jean) of Sarasota, Ca, Joseph (Torey Ableman) of Rice Lake, Richard (Cindy) of Sun Prairie, Robert (Vivian) of Sun Prairie, Paul of Madison; grandchildren, Shana, Katelyn, Jesse, Ben, Brad, Austin, Adam, Sarah and step granddaughter, Shannon Fung; a brother Howard (Jeannette) McQuillen of Santa Barbara, CA; a sister-in-law, Virginia Konzen of Scales Mound, IL; a nephew William (Carol) Schiers of Johnson City, Tennessee; a best friend of 80 years, Lillian Freund of Dubuque, Iowa, and her Sun Prairie buddies and you know who you are. Thanks for everything. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert in 2001 and her sweet daughter Kathleen Lehman Bowles in 2003. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 227 Columbus St. in Sun Prairie with Monsignor Duane Moellenberndt presiding. Burial will be held at Sacred Hearts Cemetery in Sun Prairie. A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 14, 2010 at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus St. in Sun Prairie and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Tuesday. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Sacred Hearts Catholic Church or Community Living Connections, 6515 Watts Rd, Madison, WI 53719.
