David Auby

November 8, 1922 - May 3, 2020

David R. Auby, age 97, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2020, at Larson House in Columbus. He was born on November 8, 1922, in Sun Prairie to John and Anna (Tjugum) Auby. He married Janette Tuschen on June 23, 1951 at Sacred Hearts Church.

David served in the US Army during WWII as a gunner in the South Pacific. He then went to Coyne Electrical School in Chicago. David worked as an electrician for Greibel Electric and then joined the I.B.E.W. Union Local 159 on October 6, 1958 and worked from 1963 until his retirement in 1987 at the U.W. Madison Physical Plant. He was the oldest longtime member of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church. David was an avid gardener, enjoyed antiques and traveling along with Janette on a yearly visit to Las Vegas.

He is survived by 2 daughters Cynthia (Steven) Seltzner and Ann (Scott) Crews; 2 grandchildren Scott Seltzner and Erica (Zach) Harbath; 1 great-grandson Donovan Harbath; and a sister Irma Larson.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Janette; 2 brothers John and Darrell; and 3 sisters Catherine, Margorie and Audrey.

A private Interment will be held at Sun Prairie Memory Gardens. A public Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 on Sunday November 8, 2020 at Peace Lutheran Church, 1007 Stonehaven Dr. in Sun Prairie. Memorials can be made to Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church. A special thanks to Rita Seltzner and Troy Faust.

I remember Dave as being a kind and happy man who often visited my father and helped with any electrical work that dad needed done. My mom and Janette were good friends and we were always happy to see them. I am happy he had a long, full life.

So sorry to hear about David. I was just thinking about him last weekend. I suppose it was because everything is starting to blossom. I can still recall David stopping out and walking through the garden with my Dad... discussing what techniques were working and what was not... brings a smile to my face. Dad so enjoyed his visits.

To the Greatest tomato grower in the world may you watch over my very first garden this year and hopefully my vegetables grow as plentiful as yours did . thank you for sharing your secret ingredient I will try to consume less of it and use it for my abundant tomatoes May you rest in peace next to your beloved Jenny
