Bonita Marie Pirkl-Lessner, age 89, passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2022 at Riverwood Assisted Living in Wisconsin Dells. She was born on April 21, 1933 to Henry and Gwendolyn (Dawes) Pirkl in Sun Prairie and graduated from Sun Prairie High School in 1951. She married Victor Weisensel and together they raised four children in Sun Prairie. She was very active in the both the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. She served as President of the PTA, and was a member of the American legion and the DAR. She worked many years in management at General Telephone. Bonnie lived in Sun Prairie, Black River Falls, Marion, AL, Pensacola, FL, Merrimac and finally retired with her husband Bernie Lessner in Wisconsin Dells. Bonita is survived by; her daughter Victoria Thomas of Gulf Breeze, FL. Kevin Weisensel of Sun Prairie, Tim Weisensel of Poynette, 9 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 3 nieces and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Duane Pirkl, her daughter Patricia Kranz, great-granddaughter Ellie Thomas and husband Bernie Lessner. The family would like to thank everyone at Riverwood Assisted Living for the great care they gave our mother. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church, 229 Columbus St. Sun Prairie. A visitation will be held from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
