Alexander K. Kwiek-Rysavy (29), passed away on Friday, September 2, 2011. He was born on July 1, 1982 in Berwyn, IL and was the only child of Julie Kwiek and Richard Rysavy. Alex grew up in Kenosha where he attended Bradford High School.
Alex was a playful, kind and caring person, who wanted to help and never expected anything in return.
In recent years Alex struggled with mental illness.
Before his illness, Alex worked as an organizer on behalf of healthcare workers in Wisconsin. He continued to be active with political causes, including volunteering on election and union campaigns in Chicago and other political issues.
Alex had a gift for uncanny irony and was passionate about music. He loved to express his passion for justice through his rap music compositions and poetry.
He is survived by his parents, Julie (Don Morschauser) Kwiek, and Richard Rysavy; grandparents Althea Kwiek of Cicero, IL; Patricia Arndt of Berwyn, IL; Peter J. Kwiek of Wisconsin Rapids; aunts and uncles, Karan (Michael) Owens of Moore, OK, Victoria (Rudy) Rangel of Detroit, MI, Peter (Robin Cohen) Kwiek of Salinas, CA, Robert Rysavy of Hillcrest, IL; and step-brother, Tim Morschauser of Sun Prairie.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Richard Rysavy.
A celebration of Alex's life will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at
Monona Terrace Rooftop Garden
From 9.30 am until Noon followed by
a brief gathering to say good-bye to Alex at Brittingham Park.
